In the morning hours of the day it is grey and I just bought boutique grey flannel sheets of an opposing color on my Thanksgiving Eve. I hope that it is approachable by all. What I mean is that it was only thirty bucks for a queen sized, almost king sized, bedding set of unequal beauty and quality. Can we all have access to it? I find in catalogues that I like that the price exceeds two fifty or three for a set, with a comforter not available, just the covering. Where is the essence of Buddhism here, well just like at Thanksgiving when the settlers promised themselves a thanks for what the Indians did for them, we massacured them. Where is the essence? Just like the sheets: I can afford thirty bucks can you. Price of admission to the store is fifty but if you come frequently as I can and almost do, then you recoup. I think I save fifty bucks on my sheets, even though I bought three sets at a bargain price. Fifty bucks a piece? I think so but let’s say fifty total, so I broke even. Who else does? Buddha says every one should have equal acceess and if we don’t then share. That’s the saving grace of it all, than share, then share. What does that mean? I found out that if we share Thanksgiving with someone we’re social if we do it alone we’re not. But I like it alone as it satisfies a desire not to be out in the bustle, that’s than share. But if we have to be then invite a friend, that’s then share. I like or denote the difference and becomist what is the difference. That is when we give or share then we become a part of the great whole, as when all eat or ate Thanksgiving dinner at home or in a cottage, not an institution but a set up of friends or friendship. That’s the whole and if we partake and allow it then we are all a part of the same great feast. What if not all do, then we’re missing out on something. I prefer it alone and something I miss out on is homeyness with others but I prefer it. If it’s prefered than we’re amongst the whole, if it’s not we’re missing out on all sentient beings. That’s why institutions should allow others in and feast with all. Institutions like Goodwill or the Salvation Army who host dinners. I like the one in Richmond, it’s held at the Colesieum and every one is invited. Some go so they don’t have to cook or can’t cook. I like it. Never have been but it’s not homey enough if Goodwill or the Salvation Army don’t truck in loads. That’s what I say. Convoluted enough? But I prefer to pursue in thought what I ramble unless friends guess at what I am saying: prestige comes in small doses and last a life time but friendships, like instiutions, gather dust when not used spuriously by all involved. Goodwill and Salvation Army truck in loads, friends partake of feasts and I’ll gather alone in prestige for I have it in abundance as the Buddha did under the Boddhi Tree after giving up his. What does that or it mean? We can’t have what works in the backward state of beingness, or thoughtlessness as Goodwill and Salvation Army does on holidays but not through out the year. When we always give take breaks when others don’t and give at will when others don’t. I respect the institution of both but want it to be whole for the neediest time of year. Ballistic Approach for all I say.
In other words, give at times of need and not when you feel like it and you’ll be respected. But if you give as you ought you’ll be exhausted. But if you give in beingness and at holidays and hide the rest of the approach of giving then you’ll be gifted with few oughts but mostly needs of your own and others. I use to miss holidays with family when all of mine died out, but I like the finitude of aloneness when everything is still. That’s a holiday at it’s best. Why vacation when we can have it at home any time, but especially on holidays when everyine hides. This is Buddhism at it’s worst: when you hide and don’t care and don’t give a damn thing. Buddhism at it’s worst gives to nobody not even self for there are times when you need to give just to your self. But at it’s Best, Buddhism gives to your heart and soul when every thing is at work to give to needs and to self and to other parts of the great body of beinghood, like animals, water, earth and fire, the four elements of all time and the four directions. BEST when we give to each according to his or her needs and when the four elements and four directions are all settled and set for their own best interests. How can a direction be set in it’s own best interest, when North and it’s hot then it’s a mess for the Equator. When North and it’s cold then cling to warmth inside a hotel or igloo and be set with what is natural in that element. How can we suppose that this is true: nature tells us what is true and natural and BEST settled for Herself or Hisself if we consider the North Wind. Tee Hee, a private joke for me and my little ones. North Wind is masculine in the South but in the North they configure it female and I am in the South at present so there it goes. A direction set with history and settlements of all kind: Indian, Native, and Mine. So be it for today: Thanksgiving Day.
